ReputationProfessor.com Fuel Tips By Anne Clarke.

Even if you do not consider yourself an environmentalist, a little fuel conservation can really help not just the environment, but also your wallet! The price of petrol seems to always be on the rise. The best defense against rising gas prices is fuel conservation.

Map out a good plan of fuel conservation by following these helpful ways to conserve fuel:

Great fuel conservation starts before you even hit the road:

· Keep your vehicle properly tuned, and it can get from 6 to 20 percent better gas mileage.

· Keep your tires aligned and inflated properly. You should check your tire pressure once a month. Having tire pressures that are too low can increase your use of fuel by 3%

· Replace your air filter.

· If you are not using your roof-racks, take them off! They add to drag. Unnecessary weight in your car can also take away from good gas mileage (this does not mean that you can throw your sister out of the car to conserve fuel… although, it would help!)

· Another way to start good fuel conservation is to plan ahead. Combine your errands into one trip. Think about riding your bike, walking, riding the bus, or carpooling when possible and reasonable.

Fuel conservation can greatly be improved while you are driving or at the pump:

· Slow down! There is a reason why you coast to a gas station when your vehicle is on empty – you are not going to get to a gas station faster by driving faster when the faster you drive the more gas you use! In simpler terms, your fuel usage will greatly decrease when you are driving at speeds above 55 mph. Besides, you will have a safer drive when you slow down, too.

· Avoid rapid accelerating. In fact, you ought to let up on the accelerator (by driving slower), and when you use the accelerator, use it gently. There is a reason why it is called “stepping on the gas.” The harder you step on the gas, the faster you use up your gas. Relax your driving style. Do not drive aggressively. Accelerate slowly. Driving aggressively can lessen your fuel conservation by 30-40 percent.

· Do not tailgate because it will lead to unnecessary braking and then acceleration.

· Do not idle. Modern cars no longer need to warm up to run.

· Turn off your car when you are waiting for someone.

· Your cruise control will add to your fuel conservation (of course, it is unreasonable to use it while just driving around town.)

· Your use of the air conditioner lessens your fuel economy, as well, especially if you use it at 40 mph or more. Why not just open the window to cool off? Park your vehicle in the shade.

· Using overdrive will lessen your fuel consumption while on the highway.

· Drive at the highest appropriate gear.

· While at the gas pump, use the lowest octane petrol suitable for your car – check your owner’s manual.

· Fill up your car with gas early in the morning and on cooler days. The colder the gasoline is, the more compact it is… you will therefore end up getting more bang for your buck.

This may seem like a long road to fuel conservation, but even just doing a few of these things can really help improve your gas mileage. You could possible improve your fuel conservation by 40% or so by following some of these tips.

If all of these suggestions seem overwhelming, just take a few at a time. The road to great fuel conservation can be a long one. Most all of the tips that we have given as of yet can be found in greater detail at the U.S. Department of Energy.

All of the tips on fuel conservation that we have given you so far have to do with the vehicle that you already have. If you are planning on going out and buying a new vehicle, consider a vehicle that conserves fuel by design.

Check out the hybrids or smaller cars. A hybrid vehicle may cost more at the onset, but you will surely save money in the end, especially if gas prices continue to rise. If you do not need a ton of horsepower, abandon it – you will get better gas mileage.

Storing an inventory of goods in your warehouse is a business that requires many facets to run properly. You must accommodate for all types of storage needs and provide the equipment to efficiently retrieve the items when needed for shipment. Warehouse management software is needed to keep a detailed inventory of all the stored goods and hire a workforce to operate the business. The large, open spaces of an industrial warehouse require adequate lighting so items are easily visible. Proper lighting will allow workers the ability to navigate through the aisles with no difficulty, therefore reducing the risk of accidents and damage to the stored items.

Adequate lighting is essential in the docking stations of a warehouse. Truck drivers and workers need to be able to see where they are going as they load and unload inventory. In a high volume warehouse where there is a lot of activity, it is essential that the docking area be properly lit so the risk of accidents and machinery running into each other is diminished.

When constructing a warehouse or purchasing an existing one, make sure it has the right amount of illumination. Remember to take into account the types of goods you’ll be storing, because some items are light sensitive and can be damaged by lighting that is too bright. Always keep your employees’ safety in mind. You need to choose lighting that will allow your workers to effectively get tasks done and contributes to their overall safety and security. In some warehouses, and depending on what types of items are stored, the use of skylights is a great way to provide natural light at no cost.

It is imperative to inspect the wiring of your warehouse lighting system. Make sure quality electrical cable is used and no wires are exposed. A short circuit or other electrical problems may cause a fire and damage or wipe out your entire inventory of stored items.

Take into account the amount of lighting fixtures and what type of bulb would provide the best illumination for savings on your energy bill. Fluorescent lighting is a great choice for bright and energy efficient lighting. Fluorescent bulbs last much longer -up to 10 times longer – than standard incandescent light bulbs and use less energy. Fluorescent bulbs produce 70% less heat than traditional lighting, making sure your warehouse doesn’t overheat and eliminating the need for excess air conditioning. This is also important for heat sensitive materials that can be damaged by the extra heat from incandescent bulbs. Remember to stock up on extra bulbs so they can be easily and quickly replaced when need be.

Simple ReputationProfessor.com Tips By Hans Dekker.

The cold winter days and ice-storms are just around the corner. And we use about 50% of our energy to either heat or cool ourselves. Here are some simple tips to help you save some energy. Call it easy money or a donation to the environment. Either way, if you apply these tips both your pocket book and the environment will profit.

The cost of electricity and other energy is rising all the time. Fortunately, there are many things that can be done to cut down on your energy consumption. Saving energy is good for your pocketbook and also good for the environment.

Heating and cooling are the biggest energy costs in most households. If the house is poorly insulated, a lot of that warm and cool air will escape to the outside.

Heat rises, so most of the heat escapes through poorly insulated attics and ceilings. Similarly, cool air falls, so an uninsulated floor can waste a lot of energy. Poorly fitting doors and windows are also energy wasters.

Your best line of defense in keeping in warm and cool air is to insulate the walls, ceilings, and floors. This can be a major undertaking in an older house but many governments offer subsidies for this kind of renovation. And remember, the savings that you realize from insulating your house will increase with every hike in energy prices.

Of course, houses are not the only places where we waste energy. Cars and trucks are the number one consumers of gasoline and oil. Anything we can do to decrease our consumption of these fossil fuels will help.

For saving energy for transportation try joining a car pool to get to work or use public transportation. Many cities have special express lanes reserved for buses and cars with more than 3 passengers. Getting to work this way could be faster and more relaxing.

We often use our cars unnecessarily. Admit it, have you ever driven to the corner store when you could just have easily walked? Leave the car at home, walk or use a bicycle instead. It’s healthier and you will save money.

Energy Conservation Tips For the 21st Century

21st Century ReputationProfessor.com Energy By Deon Hoffmann.

United States households alone are responsible for 21% of the global warming pollution that occurs in the world. This is more than the entire global warming output of the United Kingdom. It is clear we are not doing a very good job at energy conservation. Yet energy-conscious families can reduce their emissions by two-thirds with some simple choices.

1. Turn Off Lights and Appliances

The easiest way to start conserving energy is to turn off lights, appliances, computers, televisions, and gadgets, when not in use. We are spoiled. We have such abundance that we can waste it. Most of us have gotten out of the simple habit of switching off a light when we leave the room. Our grandmothers and always turned off the lights and would be horrified if we didn’t. They did it for reasons of money but there was wisdom in their penny-pinching ways. We are blessed to have, for the most part; plentiful and cheap sources of energy which has led us to take it for granted and over-use it.

2. Adjust Your Thermostat

Next, consider adjusting your thermostat. Set your thermostat to 68 degrees during the day and turn it down to 55 degrees at night. For each degree you turn down your thermostat, you save up to 5% of your heating costs. Grandma would be proud-and the earth will thank you, too.

3. Replace Light Bulbs

One excellent way to create huge savings in energy and money is to replace your current light bulbs with Compact Florescent Bulbs or CFBs. A CFB is four times more energy efficient than an incandescent bulb, and it will provide the same lighting. If you choose to replace 3 of your frequently used light bulbs with CFBs, you can prevent 300 pounds of carbon dioxide from going into the air-and save $60 a year. That is a huge savings for such a small action. CFBs cost a bit more upfront, but they are extremely long lasting. All you have to do to realize how inefficient traditional light bulbs are is touch one. It’s hot, right? Therein lays the problem-they put out more heat than light. This is where CFBs come in. If your idea of a florescent light bulb is the old tubes that buzzed, never fear. The new CFBs are a much different thing completely. They now produce the same kind of warm light you love from incandescents, and they use much less electricity. This, in turn, means lower electric bills and less global warming pollution.

4. Purchase Green Power

Look into purchasing green power. Many local utility companies are providing this as an option for its customers. Currently, more than 50% or power companies in the United States offer green power as an option. If you live in an area where retail electricity is allowed, you can buy your green power from an alternative source. If you buy energy through a regulated utility, many of these companies offer green energy and have graduated rates to accommodate it. You’ll pay a premium for purchasing all green power. Then there is generally a middle of the road option which is a little cheaper and is a combination of green power and traditional power. Or you can stick with your basic bill. But now that you are aware of the perils of global warming, aren’t you willing to pay just a few pennies more a day to help prevent it?

5. Buy Offsets

Or, you can buy offsets. What this means is that you are paying someone to reduce or remove global warming pollution. If you want to buy 5 tons of carbon offset, the seller then guarantees that 5 fewer tons of carbon dioxide will go into the air. This is a great option for those who have already reduced their greenhouse emissions through, say, the tips in this report, but wish to do more. By buying offsets, you can get your impact down to zero, and that is a lovely number when dealing with global warming. Just think how much closer we’d be to solving the problem if everyone got their impact down to zero.

To recap, here the Energy Conservation Action Steps

* Turn off appliances and lights
* Adjust your thermostat
* Close your drapes at night
* Replace incandescent light bulbs with Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
* Take the CFB pledge at Environmental Defense and email it to your friends.
* Use natural daylight when possible
* Purchase green power
* Buy offsets
